There are many reasons why you might think about engaging a professional researcher to help you trace your family history.

How many times have you watched a well known TV programme and thought that you would like to find out more about your own family history but are unsure where to start, or because you are short of time decided not to try?

Perhaps you have already explored your family history as much as you can but hit a "Brick Wall" and need some help to locate your relatives in records which are not available on line.

I am located in West Yorkshire and am able to visit Bradford, Calderdale, Leeds, Kirklees and Wakefield archives and local studies libraries, and am also able to visit the Borthwick Archives at York. East Lancashire and Cumbria are within easy reach too. I am a regular visitor to archives and libraries in both Edinburgh and London.

Did you know that although most people can name their grandparents, few can name some or all of their great grandparents? Almost always the earlier generations are lost in time, unless you are fortunate enough to have connections to landed gentry!

There is so much more that can be uncovered about your family history than simply recording names and dates of when people were born, married and died. Census returns, old newspapers, wills, court papers, workhouse registers and employment records are just some of the records that can be searched to enhance the basic information and give you a fuller picture of where and how your ancestors lived and worked.
